Auction in December

at this moment it is to early for an analytic evaluation of the auction. At least we want to give you an overview concerning the results.

Many well known Steiff collectors and dealers could be seen in the auction room. They came from all parts of Germany and the European neighbor countries to Frankfurt to participate in the auction. One dealer came even from the States especially to attend this event.

The first lot, the Flowers Teddy (Margarete Steiff Edition) was sold for 1,000 Euro (incl. auctioneers fee) which was a reasonable result. But nobody had expected, how it continued.

Collectors items from 1980 onwards were sold far under their previous prices. It was no difference between replicas or special pieces for the US market, Japan or Germany, Hamleys or Lafayette Gallery - just to give a few examples. Prices for these items really collapsed.

Only the very few antique items which where sold in this auction fetched reasonable prices. Kalle Stropp/Grodan Boll with 1,900 Euros, Devil 1,800 Euros or the Riding Bear from around 1920 with 2,900 Euros are just a few examples to prove, that values in this part of the Steiff collectors market are still solid.

We, as well as most of the collectors, will analyze the results and watch the further development very carfully.
